Back Market: Built to Screw New?
Text, We started Back Market with a simple idea. Screw New. Animated parts and a long barreled gun fly out against a center four-petaled shape. Fine print text appears as brackets in the corners, you news, you lose. new is not the new new. you new nothing. screw new. A smartphone splits apart as a video emerges, a person slams against a car door and dents it, two people in superhero costumes fight, gunshots and people fly.
Text, By inducing a need for new devices. Big Tech just doesn’t tap into the public’s pockets… A pyramid with camera lens in the point and rods that point outward with the words Big above and Tech below. This moves to the top of a large building and paper money flies down.
Text, It perpetuates a throwaway society… Shapes ride a stream that pours out of a pipe. The shapes form a row with the text above,
with dramatic consequences. 1. over consumption. An arm pops through a starburst shape and the finger points to a smartphone that spins above it.

Text, We’re here to break this vicious pattern. A monster arm punches through a star shape and the text breaks up. A Godzilla character walks through a city with all the buildings made of smartphones. It holds a black flag that says Back Market, on a stick, and breathes out flames. A rising sun shape in the background has text over the arc of the sun that has repeated text, this vicious pattern.
Text, and give people the choice to buy different. Animated hands over starburst shapes come in, two above and two below, and hold different devices.

The strip recedes and forms a monetary graphic with lines that point to stars below that mark: $80B Refurbished device market size. $1.3 trillion New device market size. The Pac-Man eats the strip.
The Pac-Man turns into a green circle in a circle in a square with triangles and lines that point to it. Text above, Quality.
Text, and customer care. Text above the green circle that is now a smiley face that pops out and winks.
Text, are our ace in the hole. A clamshell opens and the circle becomes a ball that falls in it. The shell closes, forms a sphere, and spins to become a coin that drops into a piggy bank that stands on a four-petalled shape.
