Meaningful success

Money talks. But it shouldn’t be the only voice in the room. Everyone wants to make the world a better place — we’re doing it by building out the circular economy of tech.

Our DNA

Video of different words beginning with 'Re' do demonstrate what Back Market do. Text overlay on thumbnail reads 'Re. a Manifesto'

Better tech. Better world.

Better tech. Better world.

01

Think deep. Decide fast.

We think hard without overthinking. Prepare to be quick on your feet and able to adapt to constantly evolving situations.

02

This is Sparta.

Every Spartan raises their shield knowing that everyone else is relying on them to do their job well (if you don’t know what we’re talking about, 300 is on Netflix). Everyone’s work matters at Back Market.

03

Minimum resources, maximum impact.

As you can probably tell, we aren’t big about waste. That’s why we will always prize the simple and nimble solution above a spendy one. Expect to get creative and to do more with less.

04

One loving and free-spirited tribe.

We want to be a place where people can be themselves — unless that self is an a$$hole. Each person here can count on fair rules, fair pay, and fair say.

05

It’s not green enough.

This is self-explanatory. Just because our mission is a commitment to the environment doesn’t give us a free pass — there’s room for improvement. We know it and we’re reaching towards it one step at a time.

Your kind of culture

We’re here to SABOTAGE!

SABOTAGE! is our mantra. It keeps us focused on what we aspire to be: a little bit sneaky, always smart, kinda frugal and constantly conspiring to create maximum impact.

SABOTAGE! will save us all.

Sticking to this mindset is what will save us from boredom, save us from the pitfalls of hypergrowth, and save us from becoming a “corporation” in the evil sense of the word.

SABOTAGE! is our constant call to action.

It’s a reminder not to rest on our laurels or credit cards. It points us to where we want to go but also tells us to stay true to who we are.

“At Back Market you feel that the founders and the employees are very committed,
and it feels empowering to be part of that.”

We’ve got our own world of weird

There’s no such thing as normal. Which is why we accept and encourage colorful, free-thinking, boundary pushers.

What do we want? Climate action. When do we want it? A week ago.

But as a work in progress we’re doing what we can through our business and through the way we run our business.
